THE LESSOR OF TWO EVILS
THE LESSOR OF TWO EVILS
Last week I heard a well known political pundit say to the group he was addressing, I will support, BLANK, because although I do not agree with much of what he says, he is the lessor of two evils.
Upon hearing that comment, and I have heard that same theme hundreds of times before, a flash of understanding came over me. That is precisely the DECEPTION, that is the causation of all problems within our government. We the people have been deceived into being Against something, not For something or someone who shares our principles and Christian values. This at first might seem just semantics, but the underlying principle is huge. Let me explain how it works.
In an upcoming election the people are asked to chose which new policy proposal they wish to support.
We have Bill #13a
END CATTLE GRAZING ON OPEN RANGES IN THE CONTINENTAL USA .ACT
This bill will save our earth. Millions of pounds of CO2 are being put into our atmosphere. Soon this will destroy our air quality and our lives. Cattle should be protected. They are part of our earth family. We have a duty to protect our environment and all of the animals of our Mother earth. Cattle manure is being washed into our rivers and lakes. This will kill fish, our birds, and our people. We must stop this pollution before it is too late.
We have Bill #21a
BEEF CONSUMPTION SAVES LIVES AND REDUCES HEALTH CARE COSTS ACT
We know that beef is the best source of protein. Human bodies require a daily source of animal protein for health and growth. Without a source of beef for food our entire population is at risk. Health care costs have been shown to increase 18% when human diet is deprived of animal protein. This bill will save lives, reduce medical costs and improve the health of our people.
Here we have two vastly different ideals. Both espouse the value to the people, the environment, their quality of life, and they save the future for the children. Sounds good. Which do you chose?
Now let us analyze the principle and how it has affected this nation for 100 years. You have a choice. One of these bills will become law. The one that garners the majority of votes, after all we are a democracy, right?
Those that are avid supporters of Bill 13a , number about 20% of the populace. They include environmentalist, the green people, animal rights folks, vegetarians, liberals, and the Progressives who want to control everything on the earth.
Those that will support Bill #21a, number about 33% of the populace. Those are the very conservatives who do not want the government controlling anything, the anti-environmentalists, the people that love McDonald’s as they know if Bill #13a passes the cost of beef will explode, the cattle ranchers who can be put out of business, those who work in the meat packing industry.
That leaves 47% of the population that are against both Bill# 13a and 21a. What do they do? They chose the lessor of two evils and vote for the one they believe will cause the lest damage in our nation.
If you can see and understand what has occurred you will see the very effective trap that has been laid for us all to climb into. Yes, we voluntarily entered the trap. You were not given a free, true chosie. You need not be for anything. Just be against something. Either way you vote, you lose. That is the principle behind the Lessor of Two Evils.
Both bills are equally EVIL. Both rob you of freedoms and add more government force that Our Constitution does not permit. The wrong is those that do not see the wrong.
Perhaps you might be objecting that these things are not really evil . But it’s just a matter of degree isn’t it? Jesus himself makes this point well; he says, you have heard that it was said, “Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.” But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. God does not distinguish between bad and evil, between anger and murder, and neither should we. Whenever we turn from God’s ways we reveal our evil nature. There exists no middle ground, something is either right or it is wrong. We cannot allow any wrong to go uncorrected.
This past Sunday I attended services at Liberty Baptist Church in Newport Beach Calif. I had been told that this church was lead by a man of God that I should hear and meet. Pastor Dwight Tomlinsons message this day was especially meaningful for me. Will Ye Also Go Away?
John 6:66-67, “From that time many of
his disciples went back, and walked no
more with him. Then said Jesus unto the
twelve, Will ye also go away?”
This message brought me back to the reality of our Christian Churches today. Our Lord Jesus, the Christ was followed by the multitudes. They loved Him. He performed miracles, He feed them, He healed the sick among them. He met all their physical needs.
King Him they called out. The crowds were going to take Jesus by force and make Him their King. Jesus had to then depart from them for the day. When Jesus returned He began to speak to their spiritual needs and requirements. He told them He was the Lamb of God and the only path to heaven. As soon as Jesus began to speak of things they did not want to hear, things that did not tickle their ears, they began to leave. “From that time many of His disciples went back”.
Jesus then turned to the 12 and said “Will You Also Go Away”?
Will you as a Christian also go away from your duty to the family of Christ when things are not so sweet. When the times require you to stand up with your brother and sisters in Christ will you be there? Will you leave your church if the Pastor speaks of your duty and responsibility? Tell your Pastors do not be afraid, You will not go away. You need the spiritual food that is there and will stay no matter what.
We all have the propensity for evil. It is in our human nature, our hearts. The only protection we have against the evil in us and others is the Word of God and the Holy Spirit of God. Herein lies our strength, Gods Word given to us. Gods Word also is the answer to choosing the Lessor of Two Evils. There is no Lessor Evil in the sight of God. If any Man does evil things or assembles with evil people, you cannot as a Christian give them your support and empower them. You then are doing as evil a deed as they. You cannot be silent in the face of evil. Silence is acceptance. Omission is as sinful as commission. Put on your armor and go forward without fear.
Ephesians 6:10-18 (New King James Version) The Whole Armor of God
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
Now my dear brothers and sisters, go forth in strength and never accept the lessor of two evils again. If you are not provided a true correct choice, then we must change the choices given.
For Him who we serve,
Rev. Maxwell Diener
